WHO WE ARE
WELCOME TO THE CAMP ONAWAW ALUMNAE WEBSITE
Onawaw was a camp for girls nestled on the shores of beautiful Lake Vernon near Huntsville, Ontario. Founded in 1925 by Mrs. Edward Turkington, and purchased in 1932 by Miss Margaret Govan, the camp no longer exists but memories of the camp live on in the hearts of its alumnae.
The site is now occupied by the Kitchener-Waterloo YMCA Camp, Wabanaki, and it continues to provide campers with sunny skies, sparkling water, and summers of great camping experiences. Onawaw alumnae have returned to Wabanaki in June each year since 1994 to renew camp friendships and to enjoy the magnificent setting which introduced them to the wonders of nature many years ago.
